Kazantzakis Museum: 4th International Festival of Speech and Art in July

The Kazantzakis Museum, in collaboration with the Region of Crete, the China Cultural Center in Athens and the Municipality of Archanes-Asterousia, is preparing for the 4th International Festival of Speech and Art. The festival focused on the great Nikos Kazantzakis will be held in the Village of Myrtia and in Heraklion July 8th through July 14th.

The starting point of this year’s event will be the book “Travelling Japan-China” from the two trips of Kazantzakis to the Far East starting back in 1935. Present this year will be a cooperation of artists from Crete and the rest of Greece, Europe and, of course, China as part of the week of culture and tourism of China. 

Artistic direction for the International Festival of Speech has been designed by the choreographer Konstantinos Τσακιρέλης, in a program that promises a lively walkabout in the history and culture of China through the eyes of Nikos Kazantzakis. Shipowner Vangelis Marinakis is the key sponsor of this year’s festival, which will be supported by volunteers and the Cultural Association of Myrtia.

The festival will present great dancers, actors, musicians, and artists from Crete and the rest of Greece, Europe, and China. The central venue for many of the events will be the movie theater Astoria in Heraklion.
