The iconic Waldorf Astoria chain by Hilton Worldwide now counts Amsterdam among its world destinations. A new hotel was inaugurated at the beginning of May on the UNESCO area of Herengracht. Facing the picturesque canals, the hotel combines six historic 17th and 18th century town houses into an outstanding landmark. The patrician houses have been restored with great care, respecting their historic value, to make a striking 93-room hotel, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam.
Inside the hotel, continuing a well known tradition, guests are welcomed in style, surrounded by sophisticated furnishings, luxurious fabrics, original art, 17th century painted ceilings, and, of course, invited to rest on signature Waldorf Astoria king beds.
Even the staff taking care of the guests seem ready to walk on the red carpet: their attires are designed by Dutch couturier Jan Taminiau.
More than a place to sleep, the Waldorf Astoria is an experience in its own right, offering world-class dining options, and fine cuisine by Jonnie and Thérèse Boer, and executive chef Sidney Schutte. If the outstanding Librije’s Zusje seems out of this world, the Maurer Room, with its Rococo interiors is pure paradise. In the evening, relax at the Peacock Alley with a glass of Champagne, or sip a cocktail at the Vault Bar, named so because it was once the original vault of a bank.
Finally, what would Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam be without its lush Guerlain Spa? The facility, which offers breathtaking views of Astoria’s private garden, has three treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, and a heated indoor pool.
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam participates in Hilton HHonors®, the only guest rewards program that allows members to earn Points & Miles® for the same stay and redeem points for free nights with No Blackout Dates at more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
