hoppa airport transfer company released its 2017 statistics regarding the cheapest and most expensive tourist destinations in the world. Sofia, in Bulgaria, ranked at the top of the most affordable cities, while Zurich, in Switzerland ranked as the priciest.
To compile its yearly statistics, hoppa analyzed accommodation prices per night, cost of a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant, prices for drinks at local bars, value of food and drinks on the go, the average fares for taxi transportation, prices for sightseeing bus tours, and entry fees for the top attractions in every city. In 2016 hoppa looked at 46 destinations around the world, while this year they almost doubled the number, reaching a total of 84 global targets.
The findings showed that popular city break destinations such as Rome, Amsterdam and Paris are included in the 10 most expensive places to spend the night, while Eastern European destinations like Sofia, Bucharest, and Kiev rank among the cheapest places to spend a night. The findings are interesting also for budget meals with the highest average cost for fast food recorded in Venice, and the cheapest in Manila.
