Wizz Air Taking Off in Eastern Europe

News from Ryanair competitor Wizz Air shows that company pivoting to compete with the world’s most profitable budget carrier. While the Budapest airline lost some 25 routes to Ryanair last year in the UK and Poland, the Hungarian carrier gained a lot of ground in Eastern Europe.

On Tuesday Croatia Airlines management and the CA pilots’ union mutually agreed on a collective agreement dispute we previously reported on. While pilots may now go back to flying, the airline authorities and flight attendants still are at odds over their issues. The bottom line is, Croatia Airlines has fliers now, but no support on board for passengers, planes will probably remain grounded.

Croatia Airlines Strike Seems Imminent

On Friday 3 unions connected with Croatia Airlines (CA) said a general strike by the national air carrier’s employees will start tomorrow if demands are not met. According to the news the employees are just trying to get benefits of an agreement already struck last year in a collective bargaining agreement.

According to numbers from Statistics Estonia. some 303,000 foreign tourists booked stays in the country, a 5% increase over the previous year’s numbers. With neighboring country tourists and business people visiting most frequently, Estonia’s February and March figures from Finland were the most striking with 20% more visits when compared to last year at the same time.

An all out air and sea search was conducted when passengers Paul Rossington, 30, and Kristen Schroder, 27, were discovered missing from the cruise ship off New Youth Wales on Wednesday. The couple, caught on closed circuit TV, went over the side the night before Spirit docked in Sydney, where they were discovered missing by ship’s crew.
